100 Days in the Jungle

100 Days in the Jungle is the true story of seven Edmontonians and one American who were flown to Ecuador for two weeks to complete routine repairs on a broken pipeline. On September 11, 1999, they were taken hostage by a financially motivated band of jungle-savvy, well-armed guerrillas. For the next 100 days, the men survived a harrowing ordeal in a jungle area spanning the border between Ecuador and Colombia.

The facts behind each death are examined, and dramatic re-enactments bring key moments to life. Professionals with expertise in crime scenes, forensics and emergency assistance, as well as seasoned investigators, help shed light on the mystery.

Da Vinci's Inquest IV

Da Vinci’s Inquest combines three popular prime-time genres: the police procedural, the medical thriller and the courtroom drama. Dominic Da Vinci is the senior coroner for the city of Vancouver. He considers himself the voice of the dead and his zeal in uncovering the circumstances behind their demise is both feared and admired. Da Vinci’s Inquest refers not only to the inquest called whenever there has been a death of a suspicious nature, but also to Da Vinci’s own process of self-examination and self-discovery.

Exils

Based on the play by Philippe Soldevila and Robert Bellefeuille, Exils tells the story of identical twin sisters who were separated at birth. Unaware of each other’s existence, they set off in search of their birth parents. Along the way, they encounter a variety of people and experience the different cultures of Canada’s francophone communities. Through their story, the drama assumes the shape of a tender and humorous allegory about the quest for one’s origins and identity.

Jean Duceppe

Quebec actor Jean Duceppe was a man of firm conviction who had a profound impact on the artistic community and the wider Quebec public. Devoted to the theatre, committed to social causes, a born communicator, he was also a beloved, although often-absent, husband and father. Ardent supporter of his theatre colleagues, fervent nationalist, lively host, and, of course, immensely talented actor, Duceppe was a fascinating and uncompromising man who was afraid of nothing – except the thought of being unloved.

Km/h IV

During season four of this series, automotive writer Denis Charest once again finds himself tangling with the staff of Km/h magazine. On the home front, Denis (finally!) achieves a greater degree of maturity through his relationship with his children. Fortunately, Denis’s friend and confidant, Germain, is always around to help Denis, should he need it. The series also delves into the personal life of Jean-Louis, who now has a new “number-one” girlfriend, Tite-Lène.

Lance et compte : nouvelle génération II

Lance et Compte: The Next Generation is a sequel to the celebrated series first broadcast in 1986, which chronicled the personal and professional adventures of men and women associated with the Quebec National hockey team. Fifteen years later, we renew our acquaintance with Pierre Lambert, Marc Gagnon, Gilles Guilbault and Suzie Lambert. We also meet a variety of new characters, who prove to be as engaging as their predecessors.

Made in Canada IV

Pyramid Productions, one of the most successful television and film companies in Canada, is a viper’s nest of creative incompetence, savage greed and hysterical backbiting. This year, the heat is turned up another notch as the company gambles it all to break into the lucrative American market. Richard produces a reality series and ghost-writes a book; Alan falls head over heels with a gold-digging black widow; Veronica is pursued by a young, attractive intern; and Victor is reunited with a scorned ex-lover.

Max inc.

Supported by loyal friends and family, Max leads a busy life: he’s a student at junior college, a wannabe concert producer and iron-fisted leader of a rock band. He wants to try his hand at everything, and sometimes gives the impression that he really doesn’t give a hoot for the advice he gets from his parents, or from the rest of the world. When you’re 18 and full of energy, who’s going to stop you from fulfilling your greatest ambitions… or making the world’s biggest mistake? Who’s going to stop you, in short, from living your life?

Monde de Charlotte (Le)

Eight-year-old Charlotte, blessed with a keen sense of observation and curiosity, is the main character in this series about the highs and lows of life with the Ducharme-Langevin family. Although by all accounts a normal family – Charlotte’s parents have been together for 17 years, after all – not everything is perfect. This series serves up laughter, surprises and emotion tinged with daring.

Music Hall

Producer Jacques Marchand has long been involved with shady and disreputable people. After his previous cabaret burns down, he opens the Music-Hall. Acquaintances from his past force him to hire talented – although completely unknown – young performers. Things quickly become very difficult for Marchand and his stage director and good friend, Paulo. The two are soon forced to make choices: between good, evil, a father’s love and the hope of living according to a new moral code.

Operation Cobra

Three filmmakers from different age groups decide to shoot a “reality TV” show about male teens playing paint ball. Their aim is to study the teens during “combat” and learn about innate and acquired male behavioural characteristics. It doesn’t take long, however, before the tables are turned against the filmmakers… and against the teens who had wanted to play war games with impunity.

Our Hero II

Kale Stiglic, 18, is “our hero,” navigating the rapids of life’s rockiest years with insight and humour. According to Kale, when something humiliating happens, you have to laugh about it – and that’s exactly what she does with Our Hero, a little photocopied ’zine which she writes, illustrates and mails out “for the catharsis of me and the amusement of others.”

Parfaits (Les)

Almost too good-looking for words, the Lebeau-Labelle couple is insufferably perfect. Talented, accomplished, faultless, stylish and unblemished, they are also well-adjusted – emotionally, physically and sociologically. And did we mention that they are extremely attractive? There’s one little problem, however. While the Lebeau-Labelles may be perfect, those around them are anything but, being warped, perverted, violent and dissolute….

Phylactère Cola

In 1995, eight young Quebec cartoonists brought their sharp, caustic brand of humour to community television. Exchanging drawing boards for TV equipment, the artists took turns serving as scriptwriters, cameramen, actors, set directors, stuntmen and sound-effects engineers – letting only their imagination set the limits. Phylactère Cola was the result of their endeavours, a program imbued with the spirit of comic-strip art. This spirit continues to guide the program today, accounting for its originality.

Plateau (Le)

This sitcom features four main characters who embody the different personality types found in Montréal’s trendy Plateau Mont-Royal neighbourhood. Pierre is a reporter for a major daily newspaper; François is a young, perpetually broke actor; Robert is a 30-year-old “adolescent” who struggles along without a care in the world; and Anaïs is a talented, freelance graphic artist. Together, they live through a variety of hilarious, typically “Plateau” situations.

Trudeau

This two-part mini-series explores the political and personal legacy of Pierre Elliott Trudeau, the most enigmatic prime minister in Canadian history. It’s the story of an intensely private man trying to cope with a very public life, one complicated by marital discord, the trials of single parenthood and the demands of his position. It’s the story of a man dedicated to one over-arching principle: that the individual is the cornerstone of democracy and his/her rights and freedoms must have primacy over all others.

Wind at My Back Christmas Special (A)

Christmas in New Bedford is not how it should be. Grace and May are stuck in Europe and in danger of missing the holiday traditions. Toppy is in a tizzy because she is directing the town pageant but the script is a flop. Honey is outraged when Hub, who is planning on becoming a priest, comes home for Christmas and brings a surprise with him – a girl named Anna Schiller. In true Wind At My Back fashion, however, the Baileys and Suttons come to realize that nothing is ever more important than family.
