In September, 1995, Aboriginal men, women, and children engaged in peaceful protest at Ipperwash Provincial Park, Ontario, were shot at by police during a midnight attack. The incident resulted in the death of Dudley George, the only Aboriginal Canadian to be shot by police in a land claims dispute during the 20th century. Canadian filmmakers Joan and John Goldi gained privileged access behind the barricades, from where First Nations people barred outsiders. Featuring interviews shot only months after the shooting of Dudley George, Ipperwash: A Canadian Tragedy reveals a police force run amok.
