One of the most important festivals in Germany, the International Filmfestival Mannheim-Heidelberg presents some 40 feature films, mostly fiction but also some documentaries, from directors who are newcomers – unknown outside their own country. As from 2010, the Festival will not be presenting documentaries anymore in the sections International Competition and International Discoveries. The Festival no longer presents short films in these two sections since 2007.

Last year, out of the 17 films in competition chosen worldwide, the Festival selected the Canadian film Nurse.Fighter.Boy, by Charles Officer, which won the Audience Award and a Special Mention from the Jury. The Festival also paid tribute to Atom Egoyan and presented five of his films.

Running concurrently with the festival are the Mannheim Meetings, considered a leading international co-financing event.  More than 300 producers, directors, sales agents and distributors from around the globe, who are looking for business partners and co-producing partners attend project-based and pre-arranged meetings.
