Slate Development Pilot Program for English-language market -
Successful Companies Announced
Montreal, October 20, 2008 – Telefilm Canada is delighted to announce that three companies will receive financing through the Canada Feature Film Fund’s (CFFF) Slate Development Pilot Program: Capri Films Inc., Keystone Pictures Inc. and Whizbang Films Inc.
The Slate Development Pilot Program was set up primarily to assist Canadian companies in their efforts to ensure that their development slate is positioned to achieve the CFFF’s primary objective of increasing Canadian audiences in theatres for Canadian feature films. Further, as an alternate source of predictable financing, this program allows producers to improve the relationship with distributors as they establish long-range plans together.
Capri Films Inc., working with Equinoxe Films Inc., Keystone Pictures Inc. and Whizbang Films Inc., both working with Alliance Films Inc., will receive financing from the program which will allow them to work on several projects requiring development financing at the same time. This approach allows the producer decision-making autonomy and increased flexibility in using the financial resources.
Implemented in 2007 as a pilot initiative for three years, this program is geared towards companies which have not benefited from a performance envelope, and will take the form of a non-interest bearing line of credit for companies that have three (3) or more projects in advanced stages of development.
