Telefilm Canada announces its commitment to 51 Applications
Montreal, February 3, 2006 - Telefilm Canada announces its commitment
to 37 English language and 14 French language new media projects, selected from
among 113 applications received at the October 19, 2005 deadline.
The 51 projects receiving Telefilm's financial assistance feature a broad range
of platforms including wireless, game consoles, DVD and CD-Rom, and both convergent
and independent websites.
The selected projects include a number with pronounced community building elements
designed to enrich and enlighten their target market. Wireless new media projects
feature innovations such as using interactivity with the Global Positioning
System. Content created for mobile devices is also evident in a number of proposals.
Current projects suggest that the rise of online distribution for games is creating
more revenue opportunities for mass market and niche market game producers.
Telefilm is pleased to support all of the above forms of new media content creation.
